The L’OR Barista system automatically indicates when it is time to descale by flashing the small and large buttons after brewing.

How do I descale the L'OR Barista system?

Please refer to the Descaling section of the Directions for Use for full details or watch the video on our Care & Use page.

Descale the system when the small drink and large drink buttons are flashing at the same time. The descaling procedure takes up to 40 minutes and consists of a descaling cycle and a rinsing cycle. Do not interrupt the descaling procedure.

Why to descale
Descaling is essential for the following reasons:
• It prolongs the life of your L'OR Barista coffee & espresso system
• It ensures maximum cup volume
• It ensures maximum coffee temperature
• The system produces less sound during brewing
• It prevents malfunctioning

If the descaling procedure is not performed correctly, scale residue remains behind in the system. This causes scale to build up more quickly and may cause permanent and irreparable damage to the system.

Descaling procedure
Note: If something goes wrong during the descaling procedure, e.g. you accidentally interrupt the descaling cycle, you have to restart the descaling procedure from step 1.

1. Press the on/off button to switch on the system.

2. Pour half a bottle of L'OR Barista liquid descaler into the water tank.

3. Fill up the water tank with fresh tap water.

4. Make sure that there is no capsule in the capsule compartment.

5. Close the lever.

6. Place a bowl with a minimum capacity of 1.5 liters / 51oz on the lower drip tray under the coffee dispensing spout to collect the descaling solution.

7. Press the small drink and large drink buttons briefly at the same time.

8. The small drink button starts to flash quickly. Press the small drink button to activate the descaling cycle. The system dispenses the entire descaling solution at regular intervals. This takes up to 30 minutes. When the large drink button starts to flash quickly again, the first phase of the descaling cycle has finished.

9. Remove and empty the bowl. Place the bowl back onto the lower drip tray under the coffee dispensing spout.

10. Remove the water tank and rinse it under the tap. Fill the water tank with cold tap water and place it back onto the system.

11. Press the large drink button to start the flushing cycle. Note: The water tank will be emptied without interruption. The flushing cycle lasts about 3 minutes.

12. When the flushing cycle has finished, the small drink and large drink buttons flash a few times. Note: It is normal that some water remains behind in the water tank after the descaling procedure.

The system switches off. The descaling procedure is finished.

How do I register the L’OR BARISTA coffee and espresso system?

Visit the registration page and follow the easy registration steps, including entering the serial number of your L'OR BARISTA system. The serial number is printed on a sticker, which is on top of the water tank as well as on the underside of the system.

Why should I register the L’OR BARISTA system?

By registering your L'OR BARISTA system, you'll gain access to exclusive deals and offers, personalized shopping, and easy checkout.

Coffee temperature from the L’OR BARISTA system is low.

Some factors may influence the coffee temperature after brewing. Use these tips to improve the coffee temperature of your L'OR Barista system.

Cup size and shape
Thick-walled cups absorb more heat than thin-walled cups. Try using a thin-walled cup to improve the coffee temperature. Also, avoid using cups that are too big in comparison to the amount of coffee that you are making. Try to match the amount of coffee with the cup size.

Cup and system temperature
Place your cup under the spout and make a coffee without using a capsule to preheat the system and cup. Dispose of the water and brew as normal. You will notice that the coffee will stay hot for a longer period.

Use of milk
Adding refrigerated milk to your coffee can reduce the overall coffee temperature. Try pre-heating the milk before adding it to your coffee.

Cleaning and Maintenance
Make sure you are descaling the system when you see the small drink and large drink buttons are flashing at the same time after brewing. Descaling prolongs the life of your L'OR Barista coffee & espresso system and ensures maximum coffee temperature by cleansing the internal system of limescale build-up.

You can find the descaling instructions in the Quick Start Guide that came with your L'OR Barista system or visit our Care & Use page.

I cannot close the lever of the L’OR BARISTA.

If you are unable to close the lever of your L'OR Barista system, check these possible causes and solutions:

Capsule drawer is full
If the capsule drawer is full, you will not be able to close the lever. To solve this, empty the capsule drawer and try again.

Capsule is stuck
Coffee and espresso capsules can occasionally get stuck inside the capsule compartment. To solve this, simply take out the capsule and insert again.

If you are unable to take out the capsule, follow the instructions below:
1. Remove the drip tray and capsule drawer
2. Try to push or pull out the capsule from the bottom
3. You might need to move the lever up and down to help loosen the capsule

I cannot open the lever of the L’OR BARISTA.

If you are unable to open the lever of your L'OR Barista System, check these possible causes and solutions:

Full capsule drawer
You are not able to open the lever if the capsule drawer is full. Empty the capsule drawer and try again.

Capsule compartment blocked
It might happen that the capsule compartment gets blocked during a brew, which would mean that the coffee stops flowing while you can still hear the pump. Let sit for 45-60 minutes and try to lift the lever up again. You might need to use some force. Please contact us if the issue persists.

The L’OR BARISTA system is making a loud noise while brewing.

Water tank not positioned correctly
Make sure that the water tank is correctly placed onto the system.

Water tank is empty
Your L'OR Barista produces a louder humming sound when there is no water left in the water tank. Fill the water tank with fresh tap water. Note: It is normal for the system to produce a sound as it fills with water for the first time and when the water tank is low. The system produces a humming sound when the internal water system is not completely full. Once water is flowing, it produces a less loud humming sound.

Air trapped in the water system
When there is air in the internal water system instead of water flowing, a humming sound is normal. When the system dispenses water, it produces less loud humming sounds. To solve this:
1. Turn on the system
2. Remove the capsule from the capsule compartment
3. With a mug or container placed below the spouts, press the large drink button to fill the water system with water.

Once completed, dispose of the water and insert a capsule to try again.

Different capsule
The L'OR Barista is designed for L'OR capsules. Other brands of capsules might cause a difference in sound. This will not affect your system.

Cleaning and Maintenance
Make sure you are descaling the system when you see the small drink and large drink buttons are flashing at the same time after brewing.

Descaling cleanses the internal system of limescale build-up, which may be increasing the sound that your system is making while brewing.

Descale your system regularly to prevent this from happening.
Please refer to the Descaling section of the Directions for Use for full details.

The L’OR BARISTA system is leaking.

Leaking from the bottom
If your system is leaking from the bottom, the water tank may not be correctly positioned. Remove the water tank and then reposition the water tank back on and see if this helps. It may also happen that water is spilled while putting back the water tank.

Leaking from the spout
A small amount of coffee may drip from the spouts after the system has finished brewing, this is normal. You can reduce the amount of drip by opening the lever after your coffee or espresso is finished brewing.

The spout of the L’OR BARISTA system is removable and washable to ensure the best quality and coffee taste. If your spout is leaking, make sure that you have correctly assembled the two-piece coffee dispensing spout by following below steps:

  1. Remove the two-piece coffee dispensing spout by pulling it straight down
  2. Reassemble the two parts by inserting the grey piece into the black piece.
  3. Attach the spout by pushing both pieces upwards into the appliance until they 'click' into place.

What brew strength or size button should I use?

For best results please consult the product packaging for the suggested brew strength. You will find this printed in Gold.

Espresso intensity up to 8: we recommend brewing as Espresso (1.3oz/40ml)

Espresso intensity 9 and higher: we recommend brewing a smaller Ristretto size (0.8oz/25ml) or Espresso size (1.3oz/40ml) according to your personal tastes.

We recommend a larger Lungo size (3.7oz/110ml) for all intensities.

Does the button I select effect caffeine content?

On average, the drink size button chosen does not determine the amount of caffeine in your beverage. The amount of caffeine in L'OR Espresso and L'OR coffee capsules varies per variety. This figure depends on the quantity of coffee contained in the capsule, the quantity of Robusta used in the blend (Robusta contains higher levels of caffeine than Arabica) and natural fluctuations in the coffee according to the season (however, this has a limited effect)

How many calories does each capsule contain?

Coffee has naturally few calories. If it is consumed without sugar or milk, the number of calories per cup is negligible: on average 1 calorie per dose.

What to do if my capsules arrive damaged?

In case you are not satisfied with the quality of your L'OR Coffee or Espresso capsule purchase, we recommend you reach out to our consumer care team by phone or online. When you reach out we recommend you have the capsules with the packaging in front of you. The production code on the pack will help us look up the production date.

At L'OR we label all of our products with a "best by" date to ensure that you experience the best we have to offer. You will find this date on the bottom of the packaging.
